John Nash – Leading figure in Game Theory dies Age 86

John Nash was a leading figure in the field of Game theory which offers an analytical method to understand and predict the behaviour of individuals. His work on so-called Nash Equilibrium has been key to many areas of behavioural study not least of which includes US and other global defence strategies and the development of the idea of mutually-assured destruction (M.A.D) which underpins the thinking behind maintaining a nuclear capability. The M.A.D strategy is a form of Nash equilibrium in which neither side, once armed, has any incentive to initiate a conflict or to disarm.
